Albanian Premier Edi Rama has confirmed he will be in Belgrade in the next two days to participated in the meeting about the Open Balkans initiative, despite the dilemma of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic whether the meeting should take place at the wake of North Macedonian Premier Zoran Zaev’s resignation.

The news was confirmed by the Prime Minister’s office for EuroNews Albania, explaining that there is no change of plans after Zaev’s resignation.

However, it is expected a representative of the North Macedonian government will be present in the meeting.

The previous day, President Vucic expressed his doubts about the meeting in Belgrade.

“Should we go ahead with or postpone a meeting in Belgrade considering the events in Skopje”, Vucic wrote on his Facebook page, referring to Zaev’s resignation after his party lost the local election. Vucic posted a picture of him with Rama in the climate summit in Glasgow.

The Open Balkans is an initiative among Albania, North Macedonia, and Serbia, previously known as the Balkans mini-Schengen. It has created disputes with Kosovo, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have not considered joining the initiative.
