Secretary General of the Democratic Party Gazment Bardhi said Chairman Lulzim Basha took the right decision when he expelled founder and former chairman Sali Berisha from the democrat parliamentary group.

Bardhi added the decision serves to the party interests and no disciplinary measure was taken against Berisha, which means there is no Statute violation from Basha.

“This is an undesirable situation, a situation that doesn’t help the Democrats. In the capacity of the Secretary General I have kept myself from being involved in arguments with anyone, because my interest is for the Democratic Party to be an asset of all Democrats”, Bardhi said. “I wish it didn’t happen. I wish Berisha had not been declared non grata by the United States. Mr. Basha explained it, but I can confirm that the decision to suspend Berisha was the right one, serves to the Democratic party interests, and of course it concretized Berisha’s declaration that his battle with the United States is personal and the party should not be involved in it”.

Speaking for the television A2CNN, Bardhi said later there was a change in Berisha’s attitude, however he still is a member of the Democrat National Council, has no disciplinary measure, hence there is no violation of the party Statute.
