Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha spoke today of certain areas which are planted with cannabis sativa while the country is in lockdown.

“The fact is the Covid pandemic was used to plant cannabis massively in all the parts of the country. It was used for secret bids that have been exposed by serious organizations. Kruja, Tepelena, Këlcyra, Përmet, Dukagjin, Skrapar, Berat have been full of cannabis like never before. This will be a climax year for cannabis”, Berisha said in an interview with the A2 television.

He drew a parallel line with 2016, when the same codename was use for the start of cannabis cultivation.

“In 2016, (then Socialist MP) Koço Kokëdhima came out with the theory of the medicinal cannabis and that he would make sure its exportation to the United States. A month ago, Edi Rama announced the legalization of the medical cannabis, which hints ‘plant as many as you can because no one will stop you’. After that, all the old cultivators of cannabis have been mobilized and are planting arable lands with cannabis”.
