Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Çavusoglu thanked Albania today for the help in the fight against President Erdogan’s enemies. Speaking in a joint press conference with Albanian acting Foreign Minister Gent Cakaj in Tirana, Cavusoglu said Turkey has requested from Albania the extradition of the members of FETO organization, which is considered a terrorist organization by the Turkish authorities whereas its leader Fetullah Gulen is an enemy of Erdogan.
“We do not wish Albania to be a safe haven for FETO members. Their presence is a risk, especially for Albania's future, security and stability”, Cavusoglu said.
He thanked the Albanian government for the extradition of the teacher Harun Çelik who was deported to Turkey in the first day of 2020 after being denied the right to appeal and of politic asylum.
