The Prosecution Office of Durrës has opened an investigation over the quality of the constructions that collapsed or were damaged from the earthquake of November 26 that killed 51 persons and damaged 5514 houses and other buildings, but the investigators are facing many difficulties.
Sources from the Prosecution Office said the Municipality of Durrës lacks the documentation for the construction permits given in the recent years. Also, the prosecutors have not had at their disposal the documentation of the objects that were damaged from the earthquake.
Another problem is that many of the construction firms that constructed several objects now do not exist.
