Albanian President Ilir Meta declared today “stopping Albania’s depopulation is the biggest challenge that requires urgent reflection”. Meta made his statement after the publication of a survey from the German foundation Friedrich Ebert that reveals the intentions of 285 thousand Albanians to leave the country.

The majority of the Albanians that plan to go abroad in the coming years are young people. 26% said they wish to emigrate to Germany, 18% in UK, 16% in Italy and the rest in other countries.
