The General Prosecution Office has started verifications about the integrity of Mark Babani, the mayor of Vau i Dejës, in North Albania.

Babani is the third newly elected mayor from the monist local elections of June 30 which is under scrutiny after the accusations from the opposition. Three days ago, the Democratic Party (PD) published evidence accusing Babani of hiding his criminal records in the form of decriminalization.

PD says Babani has used three aliases and has been convicted and expelled from Italy and North Macedonia.
