Former General Prosecutor of Albania Adriatik Llalla has said US Ambassador Donaldo Lu requested him to arrest Parliament Speaker Ilir Meta, now President of the Republic. Llalla made his claims in a letter addressed to a US Congress subcommittee during a hearing about Balkans.

Llalla wrote Lu’s men were making the Judiciary Reform, adding the country at the time was covered with cannabis.

“The tragic dimension of this situation was denied by the Interior Ministry. A number of investigations from the prosecution revealed the traffickers had the support of local police structures. Some investigations were successful, but most of them failed due to being undermined from the police”, Llalla wrote, adding that the prosecutors faced armed traffickers too.

“George Soros’ Open Society Foundation offered help for the Left government for the problem of the narcotics. Some polls revealed that ‘the police are the most trustable public institution’. Most of these polls were introduced in the presence of US Ambassador Lu. Lu said in non-public meetings that ‘drugs aren’t a problem in the United States’”.

 “During 2016 and 2017, Ambassador Lu never mentioned the problem of drugs. We welcome the United States’ help in important issues for both countries. What we refuse is the meddling of the US Ambassador in Albania’s internal affairs”.
