Former Premier Sali Berisha denounced Premier Edi Rama’s meddling in the translation of the file on international drugs traffic where former Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri has been implicated. Minister of Justice Etilda Gjoni announced the files from the Italian authorities have been translated and sent to the Prosecution for Serious Crimes, but Berisha said it has been translated badly on purpose, following a tip from an unidentified source from the Albanian Ministry of Justice.

Berisha published the private message from the official of MOJ, informing him that “Premier Edi Rama has put his hands deep in the over-voluminous file from Italy with the transcripts of the conversations of the gang members. Everything has been done under the strict survey of his office, concretely by his Secretary General Engjëll Agaçi, to whom is sent every fascicle before being accepted as definitely translated. There are voices the file is redacted, i.e. manipulated in Saimir Tahiri’s favour”.

The source asks Berisha not to reveal his name because “it is a real terror here in the ministry”.

After publishing the information, Berisha appealed to the Prosecution Office to verify the claims immediately and see if the translation is correct.
