Rama came to power with the Renaissance sect riding the Socialist Party, which provided the right votes.  Profiling himself as a missionary to make a difference, he thought that foreign policy and diplomacy were as easy as arranging the facades of Tirana Boulevard, the Urban Renaissance or the color of the palaces to give hope.  It was not his fault that he did not have the proper training, but he believed in the fact that no matter how superficial the change could highlight his magnificent missionary figure.

 Thus, the foreign policy of the Renaissance began with the borrowing of the doctrine of Turkey's neo-Ottoman policy of "zero problems with neighbors", a doctrine that did not even attempt to change its name so as not to frighten the West.  And there was no way it could have happened otherwise, when his newly formed government received the blessing 3 times in Istanbul before it was institutionalized by the Albanian Parliament.  This 'creativity' in connection with a regime that openly aspires to create a neo-Ottoman empire would unbalance the pro-Western foreign policy of Albanian diplomacy of the period of democratic transition.

 But the priority of finding a new strategic solution with Turkey turned him more into the figure of a head-down vassal than a charismatic protagonist.  What he could not get from the Grand Sultan who was a statesman, he found in the cunning Serbian Vucic who quickly blessed the 'global leader' by offering him the infamous doctrine of the new geopolitical division of the Balkans where Albania could rise as a greater space despite the fact that Kosovo would become the next victim.  The initiative started as a positive integration effort comparing the efforts of two Balkan countries like the Franco-German Initiative, which created the nucleus of the European Union.  But for Vucic's initiative to succeed, his partner had to have the stature of a unifying leader of the Albanian space.

For this, a nationalist statement in Belgrade defending Kosovo, a nationalist statement from Ulcinj on the unification of Albanian lands as an alternative to the EU refusal to enlarge, and a meeting on Tirana's consensus with the Albanian parties in North Macedonia would be important.  Unfortunately, the Albanian leaders of North Macedonia had concluded the agreement some time ago at the Aleksandar Palace in Skopje, but the Besa Party demanded that this agreement be blessed by Rama.

Both of these major projects, which would bring success, failed, bringing harmful and unnecessary consequences for the Albanian state.  The first increased Erdogan's influence instead of Edi Rama by increasing Turkey's influence in strategic investments in Albania such as traffic, finance, airports, national airlines in increasing Sunni religious influence, etc.  Today, the Albanian leader that the people mandated to take to Europe, is seen as the imperial vassal who has his head in Brussels and his feet in Anatolia.  The rejection of the breach of his agreement with Vucic by Berlin and Paris has pushed him to joint initiatives such as the "Balkan Mini-Schengen" to give priority to investment and increase Serbian dominance in the Balkans.

 Failing in vision and trusting in foreign policy personalization he has moved like a balloon in foreign policy management by taking on the role of a client and turning the country into a clientelist country.  Thus, to justify voting in the UN against American interests in two votes requested by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and Turkey he ran to recognize the Venezuelan opposition 6 hours after being recognized by the US.  He seeks to join the EU and respect its values ??and principles, but does not dare to criticize human rights violations and the imprisonment of journalists in Turkey.

 Mr. Rama thinks that the foreign policy of Albania should be restored to the dignity that all previous governments of these 30 years of transition have taken away from him and he is the only one who has achieved this.  It has attempted patriotic rhetoric with Greece but has worsened relations with it as a strategic, friendly, and host country for over 700,000 Albanians.  He promised to resolve the remaining historical issues between the two countries divided into three different "baskets", but has resulted in his 'shredded benevreks' in the third basket where the sea agreement would be negotiated.  His rhetoric and protagonism not only did not bring a positive result to our country, but in some cases also a loss.

 His statement against President Trump as a ‘shame of civilization’ shows that his protagonism is empty and tends to instant instincts rather than the interests of the country.  All this policy without result in foreign policy is certainly explained by the constant failures in domestic policy.  Albania today is a country with deteriorating hybrid democracy, with missing foreign investment, with the deteriorating situation of the free press, with a deep institutional crisis and with an increasingly authoritarian regime.  What Albania really gained during the years of Renaissance rule is its recognition in the world as ‘Columbia of Europe’, where the managerial and media talent of Prime Minister Rama has not been able to hide it.

These are some of the first opinions we are looking at from Renaissance foreign policy.  Of course we can be 'confused' and we are not appreciating the fact that European countries have personally chosen him as the leader of the OSCE and soon many conflicts like Ukraine, Belarus, the Greece-Turkey conflict, issues that have not been resolved by Trump, Merkel, Macron will be elected by Albanian diplomacy.  Run that time is too short.  Soon the doctrine of the pan, the wheel, the cauldron awaits us, to get a third term.
