Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha said the high prices for school books are damaging the children’s education and the country’s future. The Democrat leader appealed to the government to give the schoolbooks free.

“Thousands of parents and pupils all over the country continue to stay in long queues to buy schoolbooks. We are the only country in the region where the schoolbooks for the compulsory education not only are not given free, but they have become more expensive each year”, Basha writes.

“The price of the package of the compulsory books for the first grade has increased with 33% in the last four years. Neglecting the education is an irreparable damage to the country’s future. The books for the compulsory education must be given free and delivered by the schools”.
