After the failure of negotiations with Premier Edi Rama, Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha reserved some harsh words to the address of the Prime Minister from the tent of protest. As expected, Basha spoke about the partial local elections in Kavaja, where the new Mayor will be elected, to replace the fired Elvis Rroshi, with only the Socialist Party candidature.

The opposition has boycotted the elections of 7th of May, while the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) chose not to nominate any candidature.

Basha considered Kavaja as the opposition’s battlefield and warned about what will happen on 7 May in the city, where, as he said, “there will be no elections without the opposition”.

“The time to solve the crisis through dialogue is ending. Starting from today, this great popular movement is ready to expand and free the roads of the Old Republic through an escalated action and the acts of civilian disobedience”, Basha said.

“There will be no elections without the opposition. Next week will start the unification of the peaceful armies of the New Republic. Kavaja of freedom and democracy will be our first battlefield against the façade elections”.

“Protesters for freedom, citizens, let us join next week the march that starts from every city and county, to show Albania that the citizens and not the corrupt government are the rulers of this country”.

“Altogether we’ll confront and win our battle for Kavaja and Albania”.
