The candidate of the coalition Together We Win, Fredi Beleri, currently held in custody, has won the mayoral election in Himara. Beleri was arrested last Thursday only minutes after Prime Minister Edi Rama threatened him live on television.
The opposition candidate took the lead only in the last ballot box. After the counting was over, the opposition in Himara started to celebrate.
Beleri was charged with buying votes, which was rejected by the opposition as an invention for political gain. The new Mayor ran against the incumbent Jorgo Goro of the Socialist Party who left the counting place making no comment for the media reporters.
