Polish President Andrzej Duda expressed his support for Albania’s membership in the European European. Duda is visiting Albania and said in a joint press conference with Albanian President Bajram Begaj that Albania’s accession will one of Poland’s priorities when the country takes EU presidency in the first half of 2025.

"With the support of Poland, I hope that Albania will soon be a member of the EU and we will be together in this big family. I also declared our Polish support for Albania's EU membership efforts. I told Mr. President that on May 1 we had a press conference with the Prime Minister where we clearly emphasized the approach of Poland's membership in the EU framework in the first half of 2025. We clearly stated what the priorities are, with the strengthening of links between the United States and Europe the first among them. The second priority would be the EU membership of Ukraine, Moldova and the countries of the Western Balkans, among them Albania, which is at the top in terms of meeting the criteria. We are supporters of open doors in the EU. We understand very well the sacrifices of Albania and the Albanian society to implement all the necessary reforms. It is very clear that these reforms are being implemented, I have no doubt that Albania will be part of the EU soon. It is in our interest, it is in the interest of the EU. I assured the President that we support Albania’s membership", Duda said.
