Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha said in a press conference today that Albanian Premier Edi Rama has corrupted not only the former FBI Special Agent Charles McGonigal but also his predecessor in the FBI, hiring him to fight the opposition.

“Edi Rama has transformed Tirana, his office, in an actual corruptive swamp”, Berisha told media reporters.

“McGonigal did not choose Tirana by chance. I’d like to appeal to the FBI and the United States Congress to investigate seriously which are the points that joined Edi Rama with McGonigal, who brought him here, who recommended him, who stands behind this macabre act against a partner country that is the United States”.

“I would add here that the group of persons under investigation from the US authorities includes McGonigal’s predecessor Lou Bladel who has signed contracts with Edi Rama’s government. Bladel turns out to be directly implicated against the (Albanian) opposition. I urge the US Congress and FBI to investigate all McGonigal’s and his predecessor’s activity”, said Berisha.

“I’d also like to bring to your attention that the Grand Jury of San Francisco has ordered the investigaton of every record, material, document, person, including here phone calls, email, encrypted applications, voice messages, between Charles McGonigal and Agron Neza; McGonigal’s accomplice Thomas Fitzgerald; Lou Bladel, contracted by Edi Rama for activities apparently concerning the police but as a matter of fact against the opposition; the Government of the Republic of Albania and every person connected to the Government of the Republic of Albania. Imagine what a nest, what a hotbed of corruption, is considered by the US Court the Government of Albania and every person connected to the Government of Albania”, said Berisha.
