Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha condemned the wounding of two young Serbs in the commune of Shterpca as an ugly crime. Berisha also condemned the Serbian government efforts to exploit the act to aggravate the already tense interethnic relations in Kosovo.

“The Democratic Party condemns the serious ugly act of the wounding from an Albanian of a child, 11, and a young man, 21, both of Serbian ethnicity, in the commune of Shterpca. Wishing a quick recovery to the wounded, I commend the Kosovo institutions for their quick lawful response by identifying and arresting the perpetrator, and I also would like to add that Belgrade’s efforts to take advantage of this criminal act for political gain and for aggravating the interethnic relations in Kosovo are unworthy”, Berisha wrote on his Facebook page.

On Friday, an off-duty soldier, 33, now arrested, shot and wounded the two young Serbs in Shterpca.
