Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha commented the tragic death of a woman at the Municipality of Lushnja, where she had gone to request explanations why the economic aid she received had been interrupted.

Shpresa Cani, 48, died after the debate she had with Director of the Directorate of Economic Aid and Anila Çela, wife of Socialist MP Bujar Çela, and after she was denied a meeting with Mayor Eriselda Sefa. “Soullessness”, wrote Berisha after Cani’s death, point the finger at the local and central government of the Socialist Party.

Berisha wrote how Cani requested a meeting with Mayor Sefa and managed to reach to her waiting room, but there she was forcefully stopped from the municipal police. Cani felt sick and died immediately after.

“I’d like to express my condolences to her family and I condemn this inhumane act as a state murder through psychological and economic terror”, wrote Berisha.
