Freedom Party Chairman Ilir Meta commented the latest developments in northern Kosovo, accusing Belgrade for the situation, but also putting some of the blame on Albanian Premier Edi Rama.

“The only threat to the citizens of north Kosovo comes from the bands that are there for certain activities. The responsibility falls on Belgrade that keeps them alive and activates them any time it tries to create artificial tensions”, the former President of Albania said on the state television.

He added Albanian Premier Edi Rama is also responsible for Serbia’s provocative policy. Rama has supported Belgrade’s initiative, allowing its dominance on the region.

“If Belgrade has continued a policy of constant provocation, the Prime Minister of Albania, who has accompanied Vučić in initiatives to give dominance to Serbia in the region, is also responsible”, said Meta.

“Often the uncertainties of Tirana on some issues have not served to strengthen the position of Kosovo by putting it under unnecessary pressure to include it in the Open Balkans. Or even other cases to help Serbia look like a constructive country and to make Kosovo look like it is against the talks”.
