Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha said today the government has the money to raise the salaries of university professors that are currently in strike, but that money goes to “waste incinerators, Edi Rama’s €4-million installation, satellites, and helicopter taxis for the ministers’ party meetings”.

“In Albania, hundreds of millions of Euros are stolen for three inexistent waste incinerators; 4 million are wasted for Rama’s wooden installation, 6 million for the satellites, because eyes on the ground cannot see the extra floors”, said Berisha.

“Millions of Euros are spent on charter flights when governments of much richer countries make their minister fly on commercial lines. Hundreds of thousands are spent from minister for helicopter taxis for party meetings”.

“The truth is there is money, but it doesn’t go to the right destination, it is not changed into salaries, scholarships, pensions, but it is changed into funds to be stolen and embezzled from the government officials. I request the immediate fulfillment of the requests made by the University Unions”, said Berisha, who also appealed to the citizens to support the just cause of the university teaching staff, employees, and students.
