Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha accused the Albanian State Intelligence Service (SHISH) of fabricating a case against former President Ilir Meta, spreading voices of him being a collaborator of the infamous secret police Sigurimi during the dictatorship years. Voices spread after the Authority on the Sigurimi Files said a politician with the initials IM was a collaborator of Sigurimi and denounced a classmate that had planned to escape from the country, which was treason and criminal offense in the communist Albania.

Berisha said he had seen the documents yesterday and the person with the initials IM was Ilir Murati of Librazhd.

Berisha added the letter of the Files Authority that mentioned Ilir Meta was fabricated by Premier Edi Rama and SHISH.

“After reviewing the documents, I said two days ago it is an unscrupulous invention of Edi Rama, of a man in panic, with no morals, that uses slander and fabrications against his political adversaries”, said Berisha.

“Edi Rama and SHISH have fabricated this silly setup. It is clear to anyone that reads the email that IM is Ilir Murati, from Librazhd. Filip Tale (the victim) is also from Librazhd and has nothing to do with Ilir (father’s name) Rexhep Meta. They knew this. Rama misused in the most despicable way both the Chairwoman of the Files Authority Genta Sula and Parliament Speaker Lindita Nikolla”.

“In the document addressed to Lindita Nikolla, Genta Sula accuses Ilir Meta of being a collaborator of the State Sigurimi, an unprecedented act! The lady has been exploited badly by Edi Rama for the reasons she knows”.

“This is a shameful story. This is a setup organized by Edi Rama and SHISH for fabrication of documents”.
