Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha commented Albanian Premier Edi Rama’s visit to Kosovo where the governments of the two countries are taking place in a joint meeting. Berisha said in a press conference today that any joint meeting of the two governments is “an act to be appreciated”, but he reminded that Rama has refused to recognize the Serbian genocide in Kosovo.

“If Edi Rama had the minimal respect for the citizens of Kosovo, for their sufferings and sacrifices in the last 150 years, he would have gone there acknowledging the Serbian genocide, the Serbian infanticide in Kosovo. 1,400 angels, little kids, innocent human beings were murdered, stabbed, and burned for the only ‘blame’ of having Albanian parents”, said Berisha.

“In this aspect, his denial of the Serbian genocide in Kosovo that started from the half of the 19th century and ended with the Operation Horseshoe in the years 1998-1999, is a very serious accusation for his character, for his national awareness, as well as for his values and behavior as a citizen”.

“Denying this is just like stomping on their blood and souls. When they are Albanian, this is the highest form of national treason”.

Berisha promised that when the Democratic Party returns to power, the new government will offer the dual citizenship to Kosovo citizens, in addition to the first acts that will be the acknowledgment of the Serbian genocide and the removal of the toll on the Nation’s Road that connects Kosovo with the port of Durrës in Albania.
