Democratic Party MP Flamur Noka has requested the resignation of the Albanian Minister of the Interior Blendi Çuçi following the murder of a police officer inside a police precinct in Tirana on Monday. The perpetrator was another officer who claimed to have been bullied continuously by the victim.

Also on Monday, an officer of the Police Rapid Intervention Force wounded a senior citizen in a coffee house in Tirana with his firearm. The officer was arrested, whereas the citizen is out of danger.

Noka, a former Minister of the Interior in Sali Berisha’s cabinet, said the incidents indicate that the State Police has weakened whereas the crime has strengthened.

 “The murder in the precinct in Tirana and the wounding of a citizens from another police effective are indicators of the degradation of the State Police under Edi Rama’s government”, said Noka.

“The Minister of the Interior should not wait any longer. He is not in the post to make the traffic police or to order a curfew when there is a football match in Tirana”.
