Albanian Premier Edi Rama said today he is thinking of making public the Albanian citizens salaries once a year, after a list with 630,000 citizens’ wages was leaked last year.
Four persons were arrested but Rama does not see it as a scandal. Instead, he wants to repeat the publication, this time with the citizens’ “approval”.
He announced he intends to use the next National Consultation Survey to ask the citizens for their permission to publish salaries every year.
“We think it would be nice to ask the Albanians if it is good that once a year to make public all the salaries. The countries that do that say that it has the greatest self-regulating effect, and we also believe this to be very true because we see the impact of what happened and the work done after that. I don’t think we could do it immediately, but it is worthy to consult with the public opinion”.
The National Consultation was a survey that Rama used for his politic intentions.
