The historic leader of the Albanian Democrats Sali Berisha said votes for Lulzim Basha’s candidates would only damage the opposition when all the polls show his candidates and he are down low.

“As you see, the Democratic Party has remained in opposition for nine years. The Albanian citizens supported the opposition. They have been under discrimination like nowhere else in Europe”, Berisha said in an electoral meeting in Dibra today.

Berisha added he has always accepted his own responsibilities and had decided not to come back after he stepped down as Democratic Party chairman in 2013, after losing the elections to Edi Rama’s Socialist Party.

“I used to think that someone that has been in government for a long time must have a sense of saying goodbye. I had been in power and in opposition for 23 years and it wasn’t hard for me to take that decision. I decided for the Democrats’ and my own dignity”, Berisha said.

“Time proved the opposite. Today we have someone who has turned into a tool, who allows himself act of infidelity. One can never throw teargas to those who had voted for them only three months earlier. Have you seen the parliamentary commission for the waste incinerators that has been in existence for two months? Have you seen how from one hand he (Basha) requires this commission and by the other hand votes in favor of the government receiving a €700 million debt? Only a caught opposition could do that”.

Berisha said every Democrat in Dibra should vote for Premtim Kryemadhi, the candidate of the House of Freedom, because “first of all, he represents a real oppositionist”.

“He represents your uncompromised ideals. I appeal to Dibra Democrats: Do not use your votes against the right, because he will not win anything. You have seen the polls, he is on ground level. He keeps falling downer and downer. People have morale, they cannot accept a disgusting thing. For that they have Edi Rama”.
