The historic leader of the Albanian Democrats Sali Berisha said today the disgraced former chairman Lulzim Basha led the party to consecutive defeats from 2013 when he succeeded Berisha. Speaking to supporters in Dibër, Berisha repeated Basha’s involvement in corruptive affairs with Premier Edi Rama, starting with the scandal of the two cars Toyota Yaris that were used to smuggle money from Belgium to Albania.

He appealed to Dibra residents to give no votes to Basha’s candidate in the mayoral by-election of March 6.

“His affairs with Rama are terrible in the port of Durrës, in the headquarters he defended by throwing teargas at protesters and that is the site for the construction of the Park of the Four Thieves”, Berisha said. “In these circumstances, Edi Rama with the police and courts of law lets him keep the Democratic Party logo and thinks he will be able to deceive the Democrats”.

“Basha is a weak leader, in short: he is no leader! With him, the Democratic Party went from defeat to defeat. Are you still following him?”, Berisha asked Basha’s candidate in Dibër.

“I invite the Democrats of Dibër to give no votes to Basha’s candidate. Every vote for him is a vote for the loss of the Democratic Party. Our real logo is the House of Freedom. Our revolution will not be stopped. We’ll march with determination towards overthrowing the government based on crime, theft, and corruption”.
