Former Minister of Environment in two Premier Edi Rama’s cabinets Lefter Koka, has been arrested today after a warrant released by the Special Structure against Corruption (SPAK).
It is understood Koka was investigated after a lawsuit filed by the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) over the incinerators affair.
Koka was one of LSI minister in Edi Rama’s cabinet when the Socialist Party and LSI were in the ruling coalition. From 2017 to 2021 Koka was a Member of the Parliament for the Socialist Party. He was re-elected in the elections of April 25, 2021, but relinquished his MP mandate only a few days later.
He is accused of abuse of office, money laundering and corruption.
