Albanian President Ilir Meta declared today he is ready to step down should Premier Edi Rama win a third term honestly, without rigging the elections.

“If Rama wins 71 mandates without affecting the people’s votes, I will step down and join the opposition. If even a single vote will be affected on April 25, they will have their hands cut off, right in the middle of the Scanderbeg square, no matter if they are Monika Kryemadhi, Lulzim Basha or Edi Rama. I personally will cut off Kryemadhi’s hand and anybody’s else if they touch the votes”, Meta said in an interview with the television News24.

The Chairwoman of the Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI), Ms. Monika Kryemadhi, is President Meta’s wife, but she chose to continue her political career, chairing the party her husband founded instead of performing the First Lady’s role.
