The Albanian opposition leader remembered today the 70th anniversary of the execution with trial of 22 intellectuals from the communist regime. Basha promised “their sacrifice will always serve as a reminder that we owe it to Albania to defend the European path at all costs”.
“Today 70 years ago, the communist dictator Enver Hoxha’s executed without trial 22 intellectuals on false accusations. The real reason behind the crime was the regime's fear of the strength, formation and reputation of their education in the best Western academies and schools.
Today we remember with pain and respect Ali Qoralliu, Anton Delhysa, Gjon Temali, Fadil Dizdari, Gafurr Jegeni, Haki Kodra, Hekuran Troka, Jonuz Kaçeli, Luka Rashkovi, Manush Peshkëpi, Mehmet Ali Shkupi, Myftar Jegeni, Niko Lezo, Petro Konomi, Pjerin Guraziu, Qemal Kasoruho, Reiz Selfo, Sabihá Kasimati, Tefik Shehu, Thoma Katundi, and Zyhdi Herri.
Their sacrifice will always serve as a reminder that we owe it to Albania to defend the European path at all costs. Those who interrupted this road 70 years ago and others who want to prevent it today will lose and European Albania will win!”, Basha wrote.
