The Municipality of Prishtina has proposed an economic aid of 50 Euros for each resident of the Kosovo capital that is infected with coronavirus, to help them in any way dealing with the cure expenses. The proposal was made by Mayor Shpend Ahmeti and it will be voted by the council of the Commune of Prishtina.

In full contrast, in the Albanian capital Tirana the municipality not only hasn’t thought to offer any help, but has been busy instead putting penalty tickets to the businesses and vehicles windshields. This happens because the municipal police have a certain high quota to reach, as Mayor Erion Veliaj needs money for the budget to share with his clients and cronies.

No measure, no idea has been pronounced by Mayor Veliaj concerning the pandemic to ease the citizens’ burden in such times.

One might think the City of Prishtina is richer than Tirana, but that’s certainly not the case.

The City of Tirana has increased the budget fourfold by increasing taxes and tariffs. The difference is that in the City of Prishtina someone is thinking for the citizens, whereas in Tirana there’s a certain someone that thinks for his clients and oligarchs.
