The leader of the Albanian opposition Lulzim Basha said Albania is only one step away from authoritarianism following the country’s classification in the Democracy Index.

“The Democracy Index classifies Albania as a hybrid regime only one step away from the authoritarianism due to the lack of a functional government, irregularities in elections, high corruption, weak rule of law, and the lack of independent justice”, the chairman of the Democratic Party (PD) said.

Albania is considered as less democratic than Ukraine, North Macedonia, Hong Kong and Serbia, reports Exit.al.
