Three organizations that have followed closely the Judiciary Reform in Albania said today the process is very slow and the reform is going towards a total failure.
The Albanian Committee of Helsinki, the Institute for Political Studies and the Center for Democracy and Governance Studies, with the support of Open Society Foundations for Albania, based on the achievements of the Judiciary Reform, have shared with the Albanian public that the Reform – despite going forward – is moving slowly considering both the vetting process and the establishment of new institutions. Aside the slow rhythm, there is an inadequate inter-institutional coordination and there are problems with the transparency.
The three organizations highlight that the process of electing the new General Prosecutor is also slow and the country has been with an interim general prosecutor for 15 months.
