Jamarbër Malltezi, head of the Department of Environment at the Democratic Party (PD), has revealed a scary truth to the residents that will be expropriated to make space for the construction of Tirana’s incinerator. Malltezi intervened in the routine hearings the government had organized with the farmers of the area and several environmental experts, and exposed the fact that the state was stealing €128 million and would recompense them with two euros.
“I’d like to know with which of twenty shell companies we are talking here today”, Malltezi asked, arguing with an environmental expert. “A few environmental experts are speaking today, but this is a 4-year-old history of corruption, it’s a subject to the anti-Mafia law, because this is a theft of €128 million here, while the farmers are not given even the land price of two Euros”.
“What was said here earlier that the land price hasn’t been fixed yet is a lie. The government has decided the expropriation fund and it’s enough only for two ball-pointed pens. If you are OK with two ball-pointed pens, that’s alright. The gentlemen are stealing €128 million! €128 million while the expropriation fund is €2 million”.
