Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati has expressed his opposition to territories exchanges between Serbia and Kosovo, which has been announced by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Kosovo President Hashim Thaçi and approved in silence by Albanian Premier Edi Rama.

Bushati said in an interview with the Albanian daily Panorama that the negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia must go towards an agreement “legally binding that respects Kosovo’s territorial entity and the unitary form of state”.

It remains unknown what forced Bushati make such a statement and go against his chief, but it might have to do with the determined position of Great Britain, Germany, and most EU member countries that a change of borders between Serbia and Kosovo is out of question.

Voices from the Socialist majority say Rama will not confirm Bushati when he will reshuffle his cabinet in September and this may be a reason for the opposition of the current Foreign Minister.
