A survey of the Institute of Politic Studies has revealed who the new Members of the Albanian Parliament will be. Based on their professional resumes, the Parliament will lack academic people or university rectors, but in the lists one can find chauffeurs, housewives, employees of beauty salons, console technicians, also many candidates with little or no job experience at all, businessmen, plus candidates with only primary education, even with only seven years of school!  

There was a time in Albania when every district had to have a political commissar, a distinguished milkmaid, a technician, a miner, a sportsperson, artist and some rhapsody singer? They were chosen with the idea that the parliament represents the whole people. We live in a democracy today, but the mentality has remained the same. The political parties have invented rules and directives to avoid from running the most prominent political figures, to prevent from entering into politics the wise men, to which politics is not only a passion but also a profession, and they are offering us for-numbers-only deputies, speechless, without resumes and a future, but strong from their muscles, money and connections to the party leaders.

Three of them are certain to be deputies after the elections. Read their declarations: One of them tells he has been a chauffeur for half of his life, another one says he’s been a historical sponsor of the party (his name does not figure as a sponsor in none of the annual declarations of the Socialist Party in the Central Electoral Commission), another is a businessman with middle school who says that he has held posts in his own firm and not is asking for a second parliamentary mandate.

Look at some other models displayed by the staff of the Institute of the Political Studies: one radio technician, two other chauffeurs, one cleaning operator, one employee of a beauty salon, one console technician and one candidate with only SEVEN years of education. Most of them say they have no political experience, and still they chose to run to go to the highest place where politics is made, in the parliament, where bills become laws, the President is elected and the Constitution may be changed. And, they are not alone: their number goes above 30% of the candidates lists, many of them are even toping the lists in many districts.
