Albanian Premier Edi Rama gathered the parliamentary group of the Socialist Party today to inform them about the process of opening the accession negotiations with the European Union and the discussions he had in the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Rama considered Albania’s position for the opening of the negotiations as “favorable” and rejected all opposition accusations against him of taking justice under control as “rubbish”.

"Albania is considered to have done its homework. The progress noted for the five priorities and the spectacular result in the war on cannabis proves that the fear-fed fantasies of a part of the political spectrum and the propaganda on taking justice under control are merely rubbish, otherwise no one, let alone EU and the United States, would allow the tiniest display of efforts to capture justice”, Rama told Socialist MPs.

The Albanian PM said he had talked to Serbian President Vucic about the murder of Serbian politician Oliver Ivanovic in Mitrovica and they agreed the criminal act would not interrupt the process of dialogue.

“By my talk with the Serbian President we managed to notice that the murder of a prominent representative of the Serbian community in Kosovo has not affected negatively the process of negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia”, Rama said, adding there is increasing interest among foreign companies to invest in the Balkans region and particularly in Albania.

“The opening of the negotiations with EU will have a positive influence on the economy, because the country has credibility and the negotiations will be a huge guarantee”.
