Albanian President visited the city of Manastir (Bitola) in the Republic of Macedonia today. He said the Congress of Manastir, in November 1908, was an extremely important event, because it accelerated another important one, the Independence of Albania. Albanian linguists gathered in the Congress of Manastir and made the unification of the alphabet of the Albanian language.

The Albanian President met the chairwoman of the Manastir commune Natasha Petrovska and later visited the Museum of the Alphabet.

"It’s an honor for me as President of Albania to visit the city of Manastir and to express my satisfaction for being in a holly place for Albanians, no matter where they live, the place where the most courageous patriots, 109 years ago, and made the unification of the alphabet. The Congress of Manastir was an extremely important event, because it accelerated another important one, the Independence of Albania”, Meta is quoted as saying by the Zhurnal newspaper.

The President thanked publically Macedonian vice minister Hazbi Lika and chairwoman Natasha Petrovska for taking care of the Museum and their plans for its restoration.
