The Socialist Party (PS) and the Albanian government started, a few months before NATO leaders summit in Brussels, an intensive lobbying campaign in Washington only to reach a handshake between Premier Edi Rama and US President Donald Trump. Hundreds of thousands dollars were paid for a whatever little success yesterday which would erase Edi Rama’s complex and paranoia related to Trump, after the scandalous declarations he made against him on CNN during the US presidential electoral campaign.

Despite Edi Rama’s ridiculous efforts in the halls of NATO’s new headquarters to go closer and possibly touch the hand or shoulder of the US President, the “scheme” failed. It failed, despite the fact it was merely an informal meeting, organized mainly to introduce the new President of the United States to the leaders of NATO member countries. However, the money was paid and should be justified. Here gets into the game for the Albanian public opinion a former Republican Congressman who now works for a lobbying firm Rama’s government has hired recently.

It’s about the news spread by Matt Gaetz, who was a US Congressman till 2016 and currently is an attorney engaged as a lobbyist.  He greeted the “meeting Rama-Trump” and immediately after that the mediatic circus in Tirana, orchestrated by Endry Fuga, spread noisily the much-expected news. It was fake news instead.

An article in “FloridaPolitics”, dated January 31^st 2017, connected Gaetz to the lobbying firm Ballard Partners, which has been hired by the Albanian government recently. So, Gaetz’ announcement was a business one and not related to any meetings among statesmen, though they could really meet in a summit, even while walking in the corridors. However, there’s no prove yet of such a meeting.

After the exposure of the failure of the “historical meeting” that never happened, Rama’s circus media started today an unprecedented campaign against the US President. All the media outlets controlled by the Prime Minister broke out today with news about Trump’s arrogance in the summit and about FBI’s investigation on the President’s son-in-law.

This provincial vendetta in this corner of the Balkans for a missed handshake is even more ridiculous than Rama’s rush in the NATO halls to touch Trump, or even get pushed by him, as it happened with the Montenegro Premier. At least it would be news, but unfortunately, for Albania in the first place, Premier Rama was badly snubbed. Even from Chancellor Merkel or more modest leaders of NATO member countries…
