Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha continued his accusations against US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim whom he often refers to as “the governor” on account of her behavior in the Albanian politics.

“With her blind support for (Rama’s) regime, Yuri Kim has been a kind of McGonigal in her anti-constitutional and anti-diplomatic efforts to destroy the opposition”, Berisha said today in his weekly press conference.

“She thought I could be blackmailed. Among other things, she sent a Democrat MP as a messenger: ‘Go tell him, unless Sali Berisha accepts this or that until tomorrow, measures will be taken against him or his children’. I responded: ‘Don’t wait until tomorrow, take them today’. If you remember, Luli ‘The Locksmith’ (Basha) told his accomplices there would be retaliations against my children or myself”.

“She has passed every limit in this aspect. She promoted unfair businesses, businesses without open tenders, and this equals to corruption”, Berisha told media reporters.

“She defended Skavica’s concession without tender. She defended (the National Park of) Butrint’s concession without tender. She defended the concession of changing Vlora’s TEC to operate with gas, which costs €120 million, when the entire construction cost €110 million”.

“I worked hard for the (foreign) companies coming to Albania, but I never accepted them without open tenders. Why? Because Bechtel might be a construction giant, but there are many other construction giants in the United States and their participation in open tenders would be in the Albanians’ interest by choosing the best offer”, said the former Prime Minister.

“I consider the Butrint Park’s case an authentic corruption act. Why do I say this about the Rothschilds? Because they have been the greatest guardians of the park, they have done excellent promotion of the park. They created the foundation. But they had one thing, the preservation of the entirety of the park. I am a witness of the demarches they have made when constructions were made in the park area, because they had the concept of the park as a whole. While in this concession, the Fund took the town, Rama took the Cape of Stilla. Albania was crippled by the Butrint Park affair. The park was not just the town. And the Cape of Stilla is a natural wonder”.

“The lady has supported this mutilation with all her strength. When our diplomats presented the issue of the Port of Durrës to Mr. Riker, the lady was positioned totally against the interests of the Albanians. She said the FBI was dealing with the problem which makes me suspect that McGonigal too was involved in the affair”.
