Albanian Road Authority (ARRSH) has selected the company with the highest bid for the reconstruction of the old road Fier-Vlora. The winning company offered to do the job with €2 million more than the other runners in the bid which made the Democratic Party ask three question and appeal to the justice authorities to investigate such abusive and corruptive expenses.

Eno Bozdo, member of the Democratic Party leadership, said in a press statement that “ARRSH gave the tender for the road rehabilitation not to the company that offered €4.5 million but to the fourth most expensive that offered €6.5 million”.

“Two millions more that will not be paid by (PM Edi) Rama’s pocket but from the Albanian taxpayers”, said Bozdo.

On behalf of the Democratic Party and the citizens, Bozdo addressed three questions to the Road Authority:  

Why was passed to the fourth company in the list of offers, bypassing the first three?

Why was selected an offer that costs €2 million more than the others?

Why is there no transparence for the decision making?

“The Democratic Party requires the attention of the citizens of the justice organs on such abusive and corruptive expenses”, said Bozdo, inviting the justice authorities to show they are independent instead of being some branches of the executive.
