Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha said Premier Edi Rama is making some primitive antidemocratic efforts to take hostage the political pluralism through the courts of law.

Asked by media reporters in a press conference today about what would happen should the Parliament not accept the new head of the Democrat parliamentary group, Berisha said: “The party is registered in the court. There is a court ruling that has recognized the Democratic Party 100 percent. There is a primitive anti-democratic effort from Edi Rama and not only to take hostage the Albanian political pluralism through the judges of the type of Blerina Muçi which would take the country on the brink of huge conflicts”.

“The Albanian political pluralism was decided completely in the (Democratic Party’s) National Assemblies of December 11 (2021) and April 30 (2022). When we showed them the 5,200 signatures of the party members, they said they were not real. When we assembled 4,950 delegates in the Air Albania Stadium, they again denied it. When it became clear in the March 6 (mayoral) by-elections that we were the majority, they still denied it, hoping to take the pluralism hostage, but we are not affected. No force in the world can take us hostage”, promised Berisha.
