Albanian President Ilir Meta will sue the Austrian daily Kronen Zeitung for defamation after the tabloid published an article about alleged corruption from Meta.
The President’s spokesman Tedi Blushi said “the article contains only old slanders and lies, consumed for years”.
“This effort will receive an answer before the Austrian justice”, Blushi wrote.
President Meta has authorized his legal staff and counselors to prepare the lawsuit for “spreading untrue data”, “defamation”, “harm of the public image” that harms seriously the high state interests too.
Kronen reported a whistleblower that had exposed Meta’s corruptive affairs is hiding in Austria because of the death threats he has received.
The whistleblower says he has discovered that Meta had paid $700,000 through the offshore company
Dorelita Limited to participate in US President Donald Trump’s inaugural in 2017.
The Austrian tabloid also wrotet Meta had spent €50,000 for his lady Monika Kryemadhi’s plastic surgeries.
