Democratic Party MP Agron Shehaj said in the parliament today that a relative of the Socialist Party MP and former Minister of Energy Damian Gjiknuri are being gifted public properties after his company earned the status of the strategic investor.

Shehaj said Edi Rama’s government has separated an 800-hectares area from the National Park of Butrint in the southern Albania and part of it will be used for the construction of a touristic resort from Gjiknuri’s relative.

The Democrat MP appealed to Gjiknuri to speak and give explanations to the parliament and the public about his family relations to the company that was declared a strategic investor.

“Edi Rama is using the Law on the Public Investments to enrich his cronies. This is a serious affair”, Shehaj said.

“They will destroy the National Park to construct their resort. This is a structured activity where the state is in function of a single goal: Appropriation of the public assets from the persons in power”.
