Former Albanian Premier Sali Berisha accused the Socialist government of keeping hidden the bird flu from the citizens. He said the government is getting richer with the Albanians’ misery.

“The government’s head is the messenger of the soaring prices of energy. It happens nowhere in the world to become a spokesperson of the oil companies without having shares in them. The oil markets have been hit by the war, but here we have four taxes and three tariffs on oil. Italy lifted the excise today, 13 other EU countries have lowered the oil taxes. So, what is this stubbornness?” asked Berisha in the parliament today, referring to Premier Edi Rama’s refusal to lower the oil taxes as a relief measure.

“Lately, they brought upon us the bird flu, because they kept as a government secret a disease that must be declared at home and abroad, because it is a problem for the region as well. It was announced only when millions of chicken were sacrificed. What about the people? Or let them die, only to preserve the government’s reputation”.

Berisha closed his parliament address with a call to the citizens for massive protests.

“I’d like to close with an appeal to the citizens to make this spring the spring of the massive protests”.
