The Committee for the Re-foundation of the Democratic Party is preparing for the partial mayoral election of March 6 in six municipalities of Albania, passing first through the primaries of January 30 when the membership will elect the candidates that will run for the six vacant places. Committee member Ivi Kaso told Syri TV that the candidates will be persons with contributions in the party that have not ever been subjects of the Law on Decriminalization.

The primaries are a new practice in Albanian politics and Kaso says he hopes it will serve as a mechanism for unity.

Kaso also said the Committee is in negotiation with the right wing traditional allies to run together in the election that will serve as a barometer for the political parties.
