Tirana’s Mayor Erion Beliaj is interfering strongly in the elections of the Tirana Regional Football Association which will be held today and precede the presidential elections of the Albanian Football Association (FSHF), scheduled on March 2.

In audio recording of Veliaj’s meeting yesterday with members of the Tirana Association, made public by the Albanian FA, the Mayor pressures on the coaches and PE teachers using vulgar language, instructing them how to vote today.

“How could someone cut your ball, how could you behave like dickheads despite being football guys all your lives?”, Veliaj said to the members, adding: “Our balls are made of iron”.

Veliaj is also heard saying “football is the only island” the Socialists haven’t conquered yet.

After the publication of the recording, the Albanian FA registered a lawsuit against Veliaj at Tirana’s Prosecutor’s Office.
