Former Speaker of the Parliament Jozefina Topalli said Democratic Party Chairman Lulzim Basha has an open process for the lobbying in the United States.

Topalli declared in a TV interview that Basha’s acts, like the relinquishment of the opposition MP mandates, and Sali Berisha’s expulsion from the Democrat parliamentary group came as consequence of the process against him on the Russian lobbying that is still going on in the United States. According to the former Deputy Chairwoman of the Democratic Party, within two months Berisha has already taken the party from Basha with his tour in the country, meeting the party base and supporters.

“(US) Ambassador said they have not blackmailed him. We know that Basha has had an open process for the lobbying in the United States. We don’t know whether the Americans have shown him Nik Muzini’s testimony, since he (Basha) is not speaking about that. Media must investigate about why Basha relinquished the MP mandates and about the decision taken on September 9 (Berisha’s expulsion). A political party is neither a door lock nor a nail. A party is a volunteer union. De facto, in two months, Berisha has taken the party from him”, said Topalli.
