The Constitutional Court has started the session over the legitimacy of the local elections of June 30, 2019.

Chairwoman Vitore Tusha said the Constitutional Court has noticed the drop of the suspension cause and decided to go ahead with the session.

“At this procedural moment all parties have received a copy of the opinion of the Venice Commission”.

The legal representative of the Association of the Municipalities, which filed the complaint and seeks the invalidation of the local elections of 2019, said the opinion is not obligatory for the Constitutional Court.

The local elections of June 30, 2019 were boycotted by the opposition and went ahead only with the participation of the Socialist Party, which won all the municipalities and communes, despite a Presidential Decree from President Ilir Meta for the postponement.
