Chairman of the Democratic Party parliamentary group Edmond Spaho and his Socialist Movement for Integration (LSI) Petrit Vasili said today they have pressed charges against Albanian Premier Edi Rama for his attacks against whistle-blower Emiljano Nuhu. The former vice commissar Nuhu accused the Socialist MPs Taulant Balla and Rrahman Rraja, and Mayor of Krujë Artur Bushi, of pressuring him to release from detention Rraja’s son who was accused of rape and violence from his former girlfriend Xhisela Maloku. Following the former police officer’s accusations, Rama defended his men and called Nuhu a “scoundrel” promising to never “stop hunting him down”.

Spaho sad there are three charges against Rama: Threatening vice commissar Nuhu because of duty; has acted for hiding the truth; and threatening Nuhu for reporting the case.

All three offences are punishable by law from two to four years in prison.
