The National Assembly of the Socialist Party of Albania (PS) will gather on Sunday to discuss about the names in the new government of Prime Minister Edi Rama, after the victory of the June 25 elections. Sources from the PS seat told Mapo newspaper that, as anticipated by Rama himself, the new government will have a smaller number of ministries.
The same sources say there will be a merge of the Ministry of the Integration with the Ministry of the Foreign Affairs; the Ministry of Education with the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finances with the Ministry of Economy.
There are discussion about a possible merger of the Ministry of Economy with the Ministry of Energy, and the Ministry of Transports with the Ministry of the Urban Development.
PM Rama is expected to announce the names of the ministers, since there has been no new step in this direction and the mentioned names are all awaiting his call.
However, it’s almost certain Fatmir Xhafaj will return as Interior Minister and Ditmir Bushati will be confirmed as the Foreign Minister.
