The invitation made to the Democratic Party (PD) by chairwoman of the Socialist Movement for Integration Monika Kryemadhi for a joint opposition has received a positive response only by Tritan Shehu, the negotiator between the two forces in the time of the tent of protest, and deputy Dhurata Çupi. Figures close to Democratic Party chairman Lulzim Basha, such as deputies Genc Pollo and Edmond Spaho, have positioned themselves against the merge in an oppositionist front with the LSI.

After breaking the coalition with the Socialist Party (PS), LSI is looking for a new cooperation with PD. LSI is trying to have PD’s support for a strong opposition against Edi Rama’s new government, which will be created next month. Kryemadhi has called repeatedly for cooperation with Basha, but she has received no signals from the Democrat chief.

The Democrat MPs, interviewed today by the newspaper Sot, have been divided in their stance towards a new coalition with LSI, this time in opposition, after the parties ruled together in the period 2009-2013.

The deputies against the coalition say LSI helped Rama stay in power for four years, taking the country to the edge of the abyss with the cannabis policy.

PD vice chairman Edmond Spaho was categorical in his response, saying PD will make the opposition alone.

Lidhja e parë PD-LSI ishte ndërmjet një tropojani dhe një skraparlliu. Sot duhet ta bëjnë dy dibranë. A u zihet besë?
